Becoming a Technical Official

If you are a supporter of weightlifting, wish to give back to the sport you love, or want something to do alongside competing, why not become a Technical Official?

Technical Officials are responsible for ensuring that an event is run in accordance with the IWF Rules and Regulations. Our aim as officials is also to:

  • Create an atmosphere of sportsmanship, equality and fair play
  • Optimise safety and protection

To become a Technical Official you must complete the Club Level online modules in the AWF Learning Management System (select AWF Technical Official Course Enrolment and submit your details). Following the completion of the online modules you need to officiate in a competition or competitions with a minimum of 100 lifts assessed by a mentor. This will be organised by NSWWA.

Additionally, NSWWA also runs courses throughout the year that covers the same contect in the online modules but accommodates for the interactive and hands on nature of the role.
